Ebay / Sage woes
Basically I’m trying to sell a copy of Act! Professional I have (unused - 1 user licence) which Dad bought for his business - I pointed out that it was pretty rubbish and developed a more useful CRM for him in MS Access. So I want to flog this box (which is worth over a hundred quid)
A couple of days ago I got this nice message through Ebay.
Dear Sir or Madam,
As you may be aware we are the distributors of ACT! Software. Only our authorised distributors are permitted to sell licences for this product.
Please reply to this email to confirm that you are a Sage Business Partner authorised to distribute ACT! Software; you should provide you business name, address and Sage account number when contacting us.
If we do not hear from you within 48 hours we will assume that you are not authorised and will take such legitimate steps as are available to remove your listings (both now and any that you may make in future).
Please note that unauthorised distribution of our software is an infringement of our copyright, for which damages would be payable, and may be a criminal offence.

I replied saying I had a legitimate, unactivated retail box, but got no human response - instead Ebay have delisted my item (at least they refunded the listing fees).
Surely I’m within my rights to sell this?

Well, there’s probably some crap in their t&cs saying you can’t re-sell it… you could always try a 24 hour auction, try and sell it before they realise?

Just sold it on Amazon Marketplace. In your face Sage!
