circuit bending
Well i’m not sure if this can be categorised as “music”, but anyway… Got bored the other day and took apart my sister’s toy electronic keyboard* and rewired it a little bit. (Hayley bought me an electronics kit (”Draw and play your own electric music!”) - this reminded me of the circuit bending workshop I’d been to a while back, and so I connected the two devices together…) The keyboard has several demo tunes built in, record / play feature, microphone and a drum kit capable of both traditional drum sounds and animal impressions. the rhythm section also features beats such as DISCO, ROCK, BLUES, and my favourite, “NEWNEW”.

Here are some of the sounds that came out. The high pitched beeping is being produced by the “Electronic Box Kit” and was sampled directly from the keyboard’s speaker circuit.
Noise 1. A long drone followed by a mad cacaphony of animal noises.
Noise 2. An appropriately twisted version of the sacreligious Bach demo tune.
Noise 3. Raspy glitches and tones with occasional animal sequences.
Noise 4. Formula 1 simulation with added animals.
Noise 5. Rockin’ to the NEWNEW beat!
Noise 6. Bach is back, and this time he’s mad.
all tracks are 48kbps mono mp3. click here to stream all of them to your audio player.
